TITLE:

Communication Arts: Using Turnitin / Peer Review, Essay Writing

DESCRIPTION:

Teachers will cover two writing units: the multiple paragraph essay and timed essay units as created by Jane Schaffer. Participants will assess essays, align to the district rubric, and participate in professional discussions on how to improve students writing. Approximately two hours will be set aside to explore the anti-plagiarism site www.turnitin.com. On the site, teachers will learn to enroll students; set up classes; and create assignments such as essays, peer review, and discussion board topics.
